Torev Motors is a Virginia-based startup developing electric motors that eliminate rare-earth magnets, addressing a supply chain and cost risk that affects most automotive and defense manufacturers. The company was founded in 2022 by Rory Brogan, a twice-patented electric motor inventor. Torev came to Pitch Deck Studios for an investor presentation to support its next round of fundraising.
Torev works in a technical, capital-intensive category. Its deck had to explain a genuinely new motor architecture to investors who may not have an engineering background, while also proving out market size, defense validation, and a path to commercial production. The team had a full set of content ready, research, technical benchmarks, and a funding history, but needed it built into a presentation on a compressed timeline: a first full draft directly, no test round, delivered on a 24 to 48 hour rush.
The source material was dense: rare-earth supply chain statistics, TRL testing results, defense and automotive market sizing, a competitive positioning chart, and a five-year funding and milestone history. Left as-is, this reads like a technical spec sheet rather than an investor narrative, and for a hardware company still years from full production, that gap between what the technology does and what an investor can quickly grasp is often the difference between a second meeting and a pass.
Pitch Deck Studios restructured the content into a narrative arc: the rare-earth supply chain problem, Torev's magnet-free axial flux solution, third-party validation (TRL 4 testing results, a $250k US Army SBIR contract, and Tier 1 supplier interest), and the funding ask. The team built a competitive positioning chart plotting Torev against other motor makers on torque density and rare-earth dependence, a side-by-side technical comparison against a Tesla Model 3 motor, and a single visual timeline consolidating six years of capital events and technical milestones.
Torev Motors closed their Seed round in July 2026.
