Pitch Deck Studios created a professional one-sheet pitch document, poster and synopsis, for Beyond Borders, a feature film from Storylight Productions, giving the production a polished, industry standard tool to pitch financiers, distributors, and production partners. Beyond Borders is a feature film drama based on a true story: an Armenian family displaced from Baku who flee to a Russian city and ultimately seek asylum in the United States. The project came to Pitch Deck Studios with the story, script, and key production details already in place, including that the production had already secured $1 million in funding. Isaac Norris and the Storylight Productions team needed a one-sheet that carried the emotional weight of the story at a glance and presented the production's credibility, writers, producers, and funding status, in a format financiers expect to see.
A film one-sheet has to do a lot of work in very little space, selling the emotional core of the story and reading as industry credible before anyone reads the synopsis.
The story needed to be represented through imagery that felt true to a real family's experience of exile, without slipping into cliche or losing emotional specificity. Multiple visual directions were tested, covering family composition, setting, lighting, and mood, before the right tone was found. The synopsis had to compress a layered, multi generational story of displacement, faith, and family into a few tight paragraphs without losing its emotional throughline, and the one-sheet needed to double as a functional pitch tool holding production credits, funding status, and contact information alongside the poster imagery.
Pitch Deck Studios handled the project as a focused one-sheet build: concept development and copywriting first, followed by visual design and refinement. The team shaped the synopsis Isaac and the Storylight team provided into tight, pitch ready copy, introducing the family at the center of the story and establishing the stakes of displacement and asylum without giving away the ending. The design direction centered on a family walking away from the camera toward an uncertain horizon as the visual metaphor for exile and hope, tested across several settings and lighting treatments before landing on the final tone. Once the direction was set, the team built the reverse side of the one-sheet: a full synopsis, writer and producer credits, production notes confirming the funding already secured, and contact information.
The finished one-sheet gave Isaac Norris and Storylight Productions a single asset to put directly in front of financiers, distributors, and industry contacts, communicating the film's story, tone, and production credibility at a glance. Delivered in November 2023, the piece positioned Beyond Borders as a true story with real industry backing already in place. Beyond Borders went into production the following year, premiered at the Armenian Film Festival in September 2024, and reached US theaters in January 2025.
