Sedivention is a medtech startup based in Magdeburg and Munich, developing the Blizzard Catheter, a minimally invasive, one-time outpatient treatment for obesity built on cryo-ablation of the gastric vagus nerve. Founded by Dr.-Ing. Andreas Bröcker and Dr. med. Ute Nollert, the company came to Pitch Deck Studios in October 2024 needing an investor presentation. It already had preclinical trial results, granted patents in Germany and the US, and a tested prototype, but needed a deck that could carry that technical story into the room with investors.
At the time of the project, Sedivention was building materials to support its next capital raise, following an earlier pre-seed round. The deck needed to walk investors through the size of the obesity treatment market, where existing options such as bariatric surgery, gastric balloons, and drugs like Ozempic fall short, and how Sedivention's approach compares on cost, invasiveness, and durability of results.
The source material mixed dense clinical and technical detail, cryo-ablation mechanics, preclinical data, patent filings, with market and business content, without a clear line between the two. As a medical device company, Sedivention also needed the deck to read as credible and controlled rather than promotional, since overselling in a regulated medical space tends to work against a founder rather than for them.
Pitch Deck Studios used the client's reference materials to understand the structure and tone Sedivention wanted, then built a new design system around it: blue, white, and grey as the core palette suited to a medical device brand, with green as an accent. The team sequenced the content so the science leads into the business case: the market problem, the therapy mechanism, clinical and IP proof points, business model, and funding roadmap, in that order.
Sedivention used the deck, delivered in November 2024, to support its ongoing fundraising. In May 2026, the company closed a €2.9 million seed round led by bmp Ventures and the IBG funds, with participation from High-Tech Gründerfonds, superangels, Cambridge Ventures, and the strategic investment arm of a global medtech company. The funding is going toward completing product development and running Sedivention's first-in-human study.
